Mistico Hanging Bridges: Walking Above the Jungle

Located near the Arenal dam, Mistico Hanging Bridges Park is one of the most immersive nature experiences in La Fortuna. This private reserve covers 600 hectares of lush tropical forest and offers 3.2 kilometers of well-maintained trails.

The 16 Bridges Experience

The main trail includes 16 bridges in total:

• 6 Hanging Bridges: These are the stars of the park, suspended high above the trees with lengths up to 97 meters.
• 10 Fixed Bridges: These provide stable crossings over streams and small canyons.

Walking across these bridges gives you a unique "bird's-eye view" of the forest, allowing you to see animals that live high in the canopy.

Wildlife Spotting

Mistico is a paradise for wildlife lovers. If you keep your eyes open (or hire a guide), you can spot:

Guided vs. Self-Guided?

While you can walk the trails alone, we highly recommend a guided tour. Costa Rican wildlife is expert at camouflaging. A professional guide with a telescope will find animals that are impossible to see with the naked eye.

Best Time to Visit

The best time is the early morning (6:00 AM - 8:00 AM). Animals are more active when it's cooler, and you have a better chance of seeing the Arenal Volcano clearly from the bridges.
